What you are seeing above is the new $35 ( 1500 rupees) Indian Tablet PC, introduced by Kapil Sibal, the minister of Human Resource Development in India. As one of the most innovative devices invented this year (in my opinion), the astoundingly low price, ease of transporting and using, and its specs could be even better than the iPad. The Linux based, prototype tablet computer, along with a touch screen, also comes with a Web Browser, Multimedia, Adobe Flash (can stream videos and load sites properly), PDF reader, WiFi, video - conferencing ability, and also, a 2 GB RAM (no hard disk or bluetooth YET) with a multitude of USB ports. The Indian Institute of Technology co - produced the motherboard for the tablet computer, and as the tablet PC goes into mass production later next year, its price might drop to $20 to even $10.
As it is just a prototype and still in development, Kapil Sibal and education expert Zubin Malhotra believe its full, final version can be equal or even better than an iPad or a normal laptop we American all use at home.
The Human Resource Development in India has started a development for a new, but more expensive (100 - 200 dollars), called the "OLPC tablet". Its hardware (which is beling developed) is called "X0 - 3". Information about OLPC is very scant, and it is predicted it will be months or years before the OLPC, or even the "$35 tablet PC" is released.
Once again, thank you for reading this post, and feel free to tell me what you want me to blog about in the comments section!
